Pheromones are substances that are released by animals which affect the behaviour of other animals in the proximity. Pheromones are the major component of communication in animals and can be used to signal many things from attracting sexual partners, marking territories as well as signalling fear in order to avoid a fight. Scientific studies carried out on insects such as gypsy moths showed that the females secrete substances into the air (pheromones) which attract males to them. To prove this concentrations of the substance when sprayed into open air with no female moths in the vicinity would still attract the male moths. This meant that the male moths were attracted by the substance (pheromones) and not the female moth itself.
The case of the moth applies to human as much as it does to the moths. In humans however pheromones still attract the opposite sex although other things play a part in sexual attraction which includes physical appearance and sociability. Therefore pheromones will definitely attract a woman or man sexually but you will still need to look good smile and be able to start a conversation.
